eNotated Music Overview/Notes

Definition: Music notation or musical notation is any system used to visually represent aurally perceived music played with instruments or sung by a human voice through the use of written, printed, or otherwise-produced symbols, including notation for durations of absence of sound such as rests. In an electronic format.

Special notes: These rules should be applied to all eNotated Music records.

Use this table to complete the MARC fields in your record.

  • If the MARC Field Code has an asterisk (*) after the number, then it indicates a required standard. If the row appears in italics the field is optional. These fields must be completed for the record to be accepted into the Network Zone, unless the resource does not have that information.
  • All other fields are recommended to be completed.
  • Please follow the Value Instructions column. If no specific instructions are provided, then follow MARC Standards.
