Video Streaming Overview/Notes

Definition: Streaming media (video) is multimedia that is delivered and consumed in a continuous manner from a source, with little or no intermediate storage in network elements. Streaming refers to the delivery method of content, rather than the content itself.

Special notes: These rules should be applied to all streaming video records.

Example: See Video Streaming Cataloguing Example at bottom of this page.

Use this table to complete the MARC fields in your record.

  • If the MARC Field Code has an asterisk (*) after the number, then it indicates a required standard. If the row appears in italics the field is optional. These fields must be completed for the record to be accepted into the Network Zone, unless the resource does not have that information.
  • All other fields are recommended to be completed.
  • Please follow the Value Instructions column. If no specific instructions are provided, then follow MARC Standards.
