LibGuides: CLO Metadata Standards: How to Use CLO Metadata Standards

Overview

This LibGuide is designed to assist library staff apply the CLO Metadata Standards when editing bibliographic records. These standards reflect common cases but are not exhaustive or implicit. Refer to other cataloguing tools or consult with your colleagues on the discussion forum when needed.

It is maintained by the Page 1+ Metadata Steering Committee.

All bibliographic MARC records in Page 1+ use MARC21 encoding and UTF-8 character set.

The standards are organized by material type. Each page has cataloguing instructions & guidance.

Any updates to instructions are captured below in the Change Log.

How to Use the Standards

Select the appropriate page based on the resource being catalogued.
Review the Overview section for a definition and any special notes that may apply to that material type.
Use the Cataloguing Instructions as needed. Ensure that you complete all the required fields for your resource.

Mapping to the Display, Facets, and Search Sections in the Primo VE Record
- This topic describes how the system maps Dublin Core (DC) and MARC fields from the Alma source to the fields under the Display, Search, and Facets section to the Primo VE normalized record so that it can be configured in the view and display in the UI.

- March routines/methods are used to determine the circumstances in which an incoming record is considered to be a duplicate of an existing record.
