CLO Metadata Standards

Describes metadata & cataloguing standards for bibliographic records, workflows and more for cataloguing in Page 1+

Physical Object Overview/Notes

Definition: Realia (physical objects) are three-dimensional objects from real life (such as coins, tools, and textiles) that do not fit into the traditional categories of library material.

Special notes: These rules should be applied to all physical object records.

Coming soon: Metadata of sample records that meet the standards

Physical Object Cataloguing

Use this table to complete the MARC fields in your record.

  • If the MARC Field Code has an asterisk (*) after the number, then it indicates a required standard. If the row appears in italics the field is optional. These fields must be completed for the record to be accepted into the Network Zone, unless the resource does not have that information.
  • All other fields are recommended to be completed.
  • Please follow the Value Instructions column. If no specific instructions are provided, then follow MARC Standards.
